If you don't get the best response online, why not try passing flyers with this request out to kids in the classes to bring home to their parents?
If it's budget-related stuff you're worried about, one possible solution is the free fundraising search toolbar from Give2Network.com. If you get about 10-20 parents to download the toolbar who regularly search and shop online, you may be able to earn as much as us (about $50-100 a month, it depends, sometimes more).
It was pretty easy to setup, you just need someone from the PTA to be the coordinator who collects the checks when they send the funds.
